About Singularity

Singularity Film, Inc. is a nonprofit film and media production company based in Foster City, California, founded in 2023. The studio continues the work of Rhizome Films (est. 2016) and represents the award-winning filmmakers Anastasia Shubina and Timofey Glinin.

Singularity Film produces and distributes independent art films, documentaries, and video art, with a focus on strong authorship, cinematic form, and experimental storytelling. The studio’s catalog includes seven award-winning works, now consolidated under Singularity Film.

Our projects explore ethnography, anthropology, Indigenous communities, cultural change, and contemporary science and medicine. The mission of Singularity Film is to support bold nonfiction filmmaking and make these works accessible through educational institutions, museums, and cultural organizations worldwide.

About. Singularity Film

Films produced under Singularity Film (formerly Rhizome Films) have been screened at leading international documentary festivals — including Sheffield DocFest, Cinéma du Réel, IndieLisboa, ArtdocFest, and DMZ Docs — earning nearly 20 awards, among them prizes from Cinéma du Réel, the Trento Film Festival, and the Family Film Project. 

Their works are held in major museum and academic collections worldwide, including the Musée du Quai Branly — Jacques Chirac, the Swiss Anthropological Association, and the Hokkaido Museum of Northern Peoples, and have been featured by respected media such as Meduza, Radio France Internationale, and Radio Liberty.
